      <image:title>Work - Der Alb-Donau-Kreis im Wandel</image:title>
<image:caption>To mark the 50th anniversary of the Alb-Donau District, the district administration—together with agenturInhalt—has produced this illustrated book. It traces the development of the present-day Alb-Donau District from its historical roots, highlighting social, cultural, economic, and natural aspects, while also casting a thoughtful eye toward the future. In a series of thematic chapters, Der Alb-Donau-Kreis im Wandel vividly portrays the region’s distinctive and dynamic interplay between tradition and modernity, historical awareness and forward-looking ideas. Photographer Günther Bayerl played a particularly important role in the creation of this book. For many years, he has explored the region with his camera—always in search of images beyond the familiar postcard motifs. His extensive photographic archive proved to be a major asset to this project. At the same time, many images were created specifically for this publication, tailored to the themes of the individual chapters. With his trained and discerning eye, Bayerl has managed to capture the unique character and rich diversity of the district’s landscapes, people, and places—without resorting to clichés. Published by Landratsamt Alb-Donau-Kreis in November 2023 200 pages; 30.5 × 23.5 cm; hardcover; ISBN 978-3938970003; Personal involvement: Editor and author</image:caption>
